VMware Workstation has measured your CPU speed to be 671 MHz, but Windows reports that it is 2401 MHz. This may mean that your computer has a power-saving feature that varies the processor speed. As a result, the clock in your virtual machine may run too fast or too slow.
For a workaround, please refer to the VMware knowledge base article at:
http://www.vmware.com/info?id=97
To fix this according to the above link I need to set the VMware config.ini file to the following settings:
host.cpukHz = "2401000"
host.noTSC = "TRUE"
ptsc.noTSC = "TRUE"
The problem is that Vista will not let me look at hidden files :-(
Found this tutorial on 'How to see hidden files in Windows: http://www.bleepingcomputer
In the control panel in 'Control Panel Home view' click on 'Appearance and Personalization' and the 'Show Hidden Files or Folders'
Under the 'Hidden files and folders' section
- select 'Show hidden files and oflders'
- unselect 'Hide extensions for know files types'
- unselect 'Hide protected operating system files'
This windows seems to remember where I was. Need to select the 'Control Panel Home' to get to the point where I could follow the instructions.
Note: VMware is treated as an x86 application by Vista.
Did not find the file here: C:\Program Files (x86)\VMware\VMware Workstation
Creating the file config.ini by name.
Restarting VMware.
This failed!!!!! I still get the same warning.
OK
